TV Unit with a Neoclassical Moulded Backdrop, Timber-Slat Wall, Fireplace and Open Recessed Bookcase
This media unit combines classical wall proportions with asymmetrical timber volumes and the warmth of a fireplace. A decoratively plastered, neoclassical lacquer-moulded TV backdrop sits between floor-to-ceiling natural oak/walnut wall cladding with vertical reveals on the right and an open recessed bookcase framed by vertical lacquer mouldings and linear LEDs on the left. A floating natural-timber console extends beneath the composition. A linear bioethanol/water-vapour fireplace is integrated into the lower shelf of the timber wall. Warm concealed LEDs at 2700K–3000K light both sides of the bookcase, the rear of the TV backdrop and the console base, giving the living room a dynamic, balanced, sculptural and luxurious modern-classic character.
Material and Colour Balance
Warm beige decorative textured plaster/a textile-textured wall surface was used behind the TV, framed by matt cream/taupe neoclassical lacquer mouldings.
Richly grained natural oak/walnut wall panelling with asymmetrical vertical reveals extends to the ceiling on the right.
The left-hand column contains an open, five-tier timber-lined recessed bookcase with vertically moulded sides.
A black steel-framed linear bioethanol or water-vapour electric fireplace is recessed flush into the lower shelf of the right-hand timber panel.
A continuous floating console with a substantial natural oak/walnut-veneered body was selected.
Warm concealed linear LEDs at 2700K–3000K illuminate the inner vertical bookcase edges, the TV backdrop junction and the console base.
Polished light beige marble flooring, a jute-and-wool textured rug and a rounded solid-timber coffee table with a marble top complete the warm palette.
Architectural Composition and Spatial Hierarchy
Dynamic asymmetrical balance: the vertically illuminated recessed bookcase on the left and substantial timber fireplace wall on the right create a balanced contrast of volumes around the central TV panel.
Layered textures and materials: neoclassical mouldings, natural-stone-effect plaster and vertically grooved solid-timber cladding create rich, layered architectural depth.
A floating horizontal line and the warmth of fire: lighting beneath the console makes the composition appear suspended, while the fireplace on the right animates the timber texture and brings a sophisticated warmth to the living space.
Technical and Functional Details
Concealed steel framing: the wide floating console, floor-to-ceiling timber wall panel and bookcase are secured to reinforced steel framing concealed within the wall.
Thermally insulated fireplace recess and service channel: the fireplace recess is insulated with fire-resistant Class A1 materials. TV, soundbar and electrical cables pass through a service channel behind the panels into the console.
Handleless push-to-open fittings: push-to-open hardware and soft-close mechanisms on the console doors and drawers maintain the continuity of the cabinet fronts.
