TV Unit with a Black Marble/Porcelain Panel, Slatted Backdrop, Natural Walnut Bookshelves and Floating Console
This media unit combines contemporary masculine lines with the warmth of timber and the refinement of stone. A monolithic black marble or large-format porcelain panel with fine white veining appears suspended behind the TV. Floor-to-ceiling matt anthracite acoustic slats form the backdrop, while a floating walnut-veneered console and an open timber bookcase tower with asymmetrical divisions complete the composition. The strong contrast between the dark acoustic backdrop and rich walnut grain creates a calm, balanced and contemporary luxury focal point.
Material and Colour Balance
Matt/semi-matt black marble or a thin large-format porcelain slab with fine white veining, in the character of Nero Marquina/Black Laurent, was used behind the TV.
Floor-to-ceiling matt dark anthracite vertical acoustic timber-slat panels add depth and help balance the room’s acoustics.
Richly grained natural walnut/dark oak veneer adds warmth to the floating console, right-hand bookcase and monolithic coffee table.
A five-tier open display/bookcase module on the right integrates with the console, using staggered vertical dividers to create sculptural geometry.
A continuous cantilevered natural timber console with generous storage and handleless fronts runs beneath the TV.
Concealed warm LEDs at 2700K–3000K in the ceiling cove, recessed ceiling spotlights, a brass/bronze table lamp and herringbone oak parquet complete the warm contemporary balance.
Architectural Composition and Spatial Hierarchy
Textural and tonal contrast: the architectural texture of the dark slatted backdrop is layered with smooth stone and warm walnut, giving the wall three-dimensional depth.
Asymmetrical volumes: the horizontal stone panel and console on the left are balanced by the vertical open walnut bookcase rising on the right, creating a dynamic composition.
Floating lightness: keeping the console and bookcase base above the floor increases the sense of lightness and uninterrupted flooring despite the dark palette.
Technical and Functional Details
Reinforced steel framing: the black marble/porcelain panel is securely suspended using a clip system on concealed steel-profile framing fixed to the rear wall.
Concealed cable and equipment routes: all wiring behind the TV passes through a vertical service channel into the floating console, eliminating visible clutter.
Handleless push-to-open fittings: push-to-open hardware and soft-close hinges preserve the natural flow of the timber veneer on the console fronts.
