TV Unit with a Large-Format Calacatta Porcelain Panel, Neoclassical Mouldings, Fluted Timber Cabinets and Floating Console
This media wall combines timeless neoclassical moulding craftsmanship with contemporary fluted timber textures and a large-format porcelain surface. A cantilevered Calacatta panel with gold-brown veining forms the central backdrop, layered over warm taupe-beige neoclassical lacquer wall mouldings. A natural timber console floats above the floor, while full-height solid-timber fluted cabinets on the right incorporate a vertical display niche. Concealed linear lighting beneath the console washes down towards the skirting, complemented by warm shelf LEDs at 2700K–3000K. Together, these elements create an airy, balanced and sculptural transitional luxury interior.
Material and Colour Balance
A polished large-format Calacatta porcelain slab, or a natural marble alternative, projects forward behind the TV. The porcelain was selected as a lightweight, scratch- and heat-resistant surface that avoids the weight and staining drawbacks of natural marble.
Warm beige/taupe matt lacquer neoclassical wall mouldings add depth and classical refinement to the backdrop.
Solid oak/walnut vertical fluted acoustic timber panels on the right-hand tall cabinet doors create a rhythm of light and shadow.
A six-tier illuminated open bookcase/display niche with an anthracite/bronze interior cuts vertically through the fluted timber volume.
A cantilevered oak/walnut-veneered console beneath the TV combines an open anthracite equipment niche in the centre with enclosed storage on either side.
Concealed warm linear LEDs at 2700K–3000K wash the wall beneath the console and illuminate the ceiling of each display shelf.
Herringbone oak parquet, a textured beige rug and a monolithic timber-bodied coffee table with a Calacatta porcelain top complete the tone-on-tone living room.
Architectural Composition and Spatial Hierarchy
Transitional architecture: classical symmetrical wall mouldings are balanced with an asymmetrical contemporary fluted timber cabinet volume, creating a timeless atmosphere.
Floating lightness: the wall-mounted console and concealed lighting beneath it maximise the sense of spaciousness and openness.
Vertical emphasis and generous storage: fluted tall cabinets on the right visually increase ceiling height while providing ample concealed storage.
Technical and Functional Details
Lightweight structural steel frame: the large porcelain panel is secured with concealed clips to lightweight steel framing anchored into the rear wall, creating a seamless appearance.
Concealed services and cable channel: TV and audio wiring passes through the technical void behind the porcelain into the console’s open shelf, remaining entirely hidden.
Soft-close, push-to-open hardware: handleless push-to-open fittings and soft-close runners on the fluted doors and console compartments preserve the minimalist surface rhythm.
