TV Unit with Natural Walnut Boiserie Panels and a Black Sahara Noir Marble Plinth
This architectural TV unit brings together monolithic timber craftsmanship and luxurious natural stone. Full-height American walnut boiserie panels with vertical shadow joints are paired with a continuous black Sahara Noir (Portoro) marble plinth veined in gold and white, alongside an open vertical bookcase. A concealed warm LED line at 2700K–3000K beneath the timber volume and a textured travertine/microcement niche backdrop give the living room a sculptural architectural presence and a distinctive warmth.
Material and Colour Balance
Richly grained natural American walnut veneer boiserie panels extend continuously to the ceiling behind the TV and along the adjoining side, with vertical shadow joints defining their rhythm.
A polished black Sahara Noir / Nero Portoro marble plinth with gold veining runs across the floor line, adding sculptural weight and contrast.
On the left, an open vertical walnut bookcase niche is recessed between tall timber-fronted storage cabinets to display books and sculptural objects.
Below the timber panels, an open horizontal niche with a neutral textured beige microcement / travertine backdrop accommodates audio equipment and accessories on the marble plinth.
A concealed warm linear LED profile at 2700K–3000K is recessed into the bottom edge of the timber wall volume, lighting the lower niche evenly.
Polished veined beige-grey marble flooring, a textured beige-taupe rug, a walnut and smoked-glass coffee table and anthracite ceramic objects complete the contemporary luxury palette.
Architectural Composition and Spatial Hierarchy
Monolithic Volume and Floating Balance: The vertical timber block ends approximately 30 cm above the marble plinth. A concealed illuminated reveal creates the impression of a suspended volume, reducing the visual weight of the large cabinetry.
Joints and Rhythm: Vertical shadow joints between the timber panels establish a rhythmic geometry with the TV’s black glass screen, turning the wall into a unified architectural elevation.
Functional Integration: Tall cabinets on the left provide enclosed coat and multimedia storage, while the open vertical shelving introduces deliberate asymmetry and visual movement.
Technical and Functional Details
Ventilation and Equipment Access: Concealed cable shafts behind the timber panels and magnetically secured service access panels support the soundbar and audio units positioned on the marble plinth.
Concealed Push-to-Open Doors: Handleless push-to-open fittings and concealed soft-close hinges preserve the continuity of the natural grain across tall cabinet doors and side access panels.
Mitred Natural Stone Edges: 45-degree mitred detailing at every corner and top junction of the black marble plinth creates the appearance of a single solid stone block.
